Woman seriously injured in Southbury Road crash

A WOMAN has been left seriously injured after being hit by a lorry in Southbury Road, Ponders End earlier today.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the crash, which happened just after midday near the bus garage.

Local diversions were in place this afternoon but roads re-opened just before 4pm.

I would just like to say that Paula’s comment is the most insensitive thing I’ve ever seen in my life! How dare you! My friend was with her when it happened and that was absolutely horrific for her! You wouldn’t be saying that if that was your mother lying in hospital!!!

I also know the lady that was hit as she teaches my daughter at the school nearby. I wasn’t there when this happened but heard from many that the driver was speeding excessively over the hill with no time to stop. We all knows to slow down when reaching the top of that hill as there is sometimes congestion backing all the way up. If the light was green, why was the lorry opp stationary?

I feel sorry for the lady, but that’s what happens when you cross a busy road on a green light, and we teach our kids how to cross the road properly
